3 things that I didn’t know about before investing my money into a subscription for the wrong cloud storage

Living in an era crawdad with information, selfies and technology we all learned that data is the gold of our times.
We can no longer put it away in a safe locker — the world is spinning and changing way too fast for that.

Are you ready to go the extra mile to find out insides about one of the first cloud storages and what makes the new generation cloud worth looking at?

Can you guess what are the hardest treasures to find in the tech era? Privacy and online security, of course!

As a Dropbox user for several years, I believed that my files are saved and can be viewed only by me. This was until I found out about the hack in 2012 when millions of passwords were revealed.
Started to look into the details of where is my data stored and what are the rules and regulations for the US, so it turns out that Patriot Act could be used to gain access to your data. The only way to escape the possibility of somebody looking through your personal files in a cloud turns out to be zero-knowledge encryption, which Dropbox doesn’t provide and encourages you to use a third-party application. Who wants to work with a few programs to accomplish one single task? Should I waste time and computer storage on this?

Digging deeper for a Dropbox alternative my eye got caught up by a new generation swiss cloud, which seemed to understand the importance of giving options. You can choose where to store your data and which regulation to follow either EU or US. Isn’t it great to finally have a choice? The company pCloud is based in Switzerland, which is known for the best privacy laws. On top of that, it’s one of the very few cloud storages to own their servers, therefore guaranteeing data security. In fact, a couple of years ago they introduced a prize of $100 000 for whoever can hack the cloud. The bad news is no one won. Luckily our data there is super safe.
pCloud provides zero-knowledge encryption and the crypto pass is only available to the creator. This feature is good insurance for the privacy of sensitive information. As well as Dropbox, pCloud also has two-factor authentication protection. Another benefit of the fast-growing popularity company is the fact that they keep a copy of your files on their second server. Let’s imagine an accident occurs with the US server, we will be still able to access our data, due to the backup in the EU.

Have you ever been into the trouble of losing your phone or laptop and tried to collect the missing pieces of your lost data?

Glad to let you know that both pCloud and Dropbox provide backup features for mobile and computer data.
However, while going through reviews and trying to get my folders up I was very disappointed by Dropbox’s backup option, it allows backup only for three folders — Documents, Desktop and Downloads folders. What about all of my pictures and music?!

At the same time, pCloud’s feature grants the opportunity for backing up any folder on your PC.
At the time when I decided to shift to pCloud, my biggest concern was downloading my data from another cloud and moving it to a new account. Here comes the surprise, pCloud lets you backup third-party data. This option is available for social media and some other clouds. Absolutely great! You can edit files offline and automatically your changes will be made to pCloud. In case that you need an older version of your files, there is the rewind feature, which can take you back to the date and time you choose within 30 days. With a little extra spend file history can be exceeded up to a year.

Dropbox along with pCloud has a mobile app, desktop version and browser access.

When it comes to pricing I was completely won over by pCloud.

Once again they knew the importance of giving choice. Starting with the free account with up to 10 GB storage, compared to 2 GB from Dropbox. The new generation cloud provides three options for an individual plan — up to 10 GB, 500 GB and 2 TB. On the other side, the American company has only one individual subscription for 2 TB. Both clouds have family and business plans. Are you wondering what is so unique about pCloud’s subscriptions? I would say the LIFETIME offer — you pay once and get to use it for the rest of your life.

If you, just like me had enough of the well-recognized cloud storages you might want to consider pCloud as a great alternative, which knows the real meaning of privacy. In the end who doesn’t trust the rules of a Switzerland company?
Furthermore, some of the features that are included in all the subscriptions for the new generation cloud are provided only for the business account options of Dropbox. Better value for less money is a great advantage.
